Circumflex Scapular Artery

  • Branch of the subscapular artery.  
  • Anatomical variations: It can arise directly from the axillary artery.
  • It passes through the triangular space to the infraspinous fossa. 
  • Gives off two branches (transverse & descending) in the infraspinous fossa and anastomoses with the suprascapular artery (= transverse scapular artery) and the dorsal scapular artery (= descending branch of the transverse cervical artery).
  • Part of the collateral circulation of the scapula (anastomosis).
